Honor May Day with a march for tenants rights! May 1st is known around the world as May Day, or International Workers Day. For May Day in Olympia, Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, the South Sound Labor School, a committee of the Thurston – Lewis – Mason Central Labor Council, will lead a march across the 4th Avenue Bridge for tenants rights at 5:30pm and a Solidarity Gathering at Traditions Café at 6:30pm.

The 5:30pm march, when working people will gather with tenants’ rights groups to march across the 4th Avenue, will call attention to the housing needs of working families in Thurston County.

At the 6:30pm “Solidarity Night” at Traditions Café you will hear about the Haymarket Martyrs of 1886 and the International Workers Day their arrests and execution inspired.

May Day celebrations will continue on Sunday, May 5th with a Working People’s Picnic at the Thurston County Fairgrounds 11am-3pm.
