Free Distribution Day is Thursday, August 15 8am-6pm at Komachin Middle School.
Team up with the Little Red Schoolhouse Project and KXXO Mixx 96.1 to send students in our community back to school with pride. KXXO Mixx 96.1 will be broadcasting LIVE collecting school supplies, little backpacks, coats, new socks and underwear (particularly boxer briefs), and cash to purchase supplies and clothes in bulk. Come by KXXO Mixx 96.1 at the corner of State and Washington streets anytime 6am-6pm Friday, August 9, 2019!
Imagine having to choose between buying food and clothes or a backpack, crayons, and scissors for your school-age child! Each year, many parents look at the brightly colored “Back to School” banners with dread as they face exactly these choices. The average cost of school supplies per child has grown to almost $75 per child. Add socks and underwear and a new coat or jacket, and the cost is now beyond many parents who are already struggling to pay for rent, gas, and medical expenses!
The Little Red Schoolhouse Project (www.redschool.org) was founded in response to this need. Their goal is to see every child start school with basic school supplies, a backpack, and new socks and underwear. LRS will not be accepting other clothing donations this year!
How can I help? Pick up extra coats, socks, and underwear (particularly boxer briefs – for kids & adult sizes for teens) or school supplies (such as little backpacks, rulers, crayons, child-size scissors, and pencils) when you’re shopping with your kids – or donate cash to buy new backpacks.
KXXO Mixx 96.1 Back-to-School Drive!
