Catch a free reading of a new play by a Northwest playwright! Tacoma Arts Live partners with Northwest Playwrights Alliance to spotlight emerging playwrights in a series of script readings. “Undercover: New Play Readings by PNW Playwrights” runs at the Tacoma Armory select Mondays, October 6, 2025 through March 2, 2026. Each reading concludes with a facilitated discussion, where audiences can share feedback.
Monday, October 6, 2025 – The Rest of Us, by Amy Tofte
A group of high school senior girls gather for a special student-run detention after school. As the group of less-than-popular students get to know each other through the experimental punishment, they learn their academically-motivated leader has an abusive boyfriend and few friends. The young women develop real bonds, encouraging the leader to break up with her abuser. But when the break-up leads to a tragic accident, the young women take their first steps together into adulthood with a plan to help right a wrong.

In a strange, lonely seaport perched on the edge of eternity, the souls of the recently departed must gather a crew for a ship to sail away on their next long journey, past where the sea meets the sky. But who do you choose to travel with? And how long would you wait for someone, and will they be waiting for you? A new play about the true connections that hold us together after the ties that bind us have fallen away.
Monday, November 3 – Seven Ways to Get There, by Bryan Willis
Based on a true story…Seven Ways to Get There lifts the veil on doctor-patient confidentiality. In this comedic, yet revealing, look at the troubles everyone can relate to, seven men are in group therapy trying to work through their issues. Conflict resolution may be the goal, but in order to get through difficult times, they’ll have to find the right path that works for them. – TheaterInSeattle
