Thurston County Master Gardeners and Composter/Recyclers offer two free workshops at Closed Loop Demonstration Garden at Thurston County’s Waste & Recovery Center in Hawks Prairie Saturday, June 21, 2025. At 9am, take your understanding of how to make and use compost to a new level. In the Advanced Composting workshop, you will learn the different ways to make compost and the pros and cons of each method, pros and cons of various feedstock for your compost, and tips on when and how to apply compost. Then, at 10am, learn how to use and maintain the top five gardening tools, including cleaning and sharpening techniques.
