New beginnings can be as subtle as a whisper or as loud as a symphony orchestra. The Tacoma Youth Symphony will present “Magic, Power, and New Beginnings” at the Rialto Theater on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The Tacoma Youth Symphony will be collaborating with the Tacoma Youth Chorus on Dilworth’s I Dream a World based on a poem by Langston Hughes and When Dreams Take Flight based on the poem “Dreams” by Paul Laurence Dunbar, as well as Ruth Moody’s One Voice, a moving testament to the power of unity. Gig Harbor 18-year old Leah Everling will join the symphony for a performance of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 and Stravinsky’s magical Firebird Suite will also be performed.
