Event Details

Revel in the power of a female friendship. Theater Artists Olympia presents The Half-life of Marie Curie Fridays-Sundays May 12-28, a play about that explores the relationship between two brilliant women, fearless champions of scientific inquiry, at a time when Curie has been pilloried in the press for her affair with a married man.

In 1911, Marie Curie wins the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her discovery of radium and polonium. By 1912, she is the object of nationwide ridicule, all but erasing her achievements, when the press
discovers her affair with a married scientist. Branded a foreign temptress and homewrecker, Marie is left reeling until her friend – engineer and suffragette Hertha Ayrton – convinces Marie to retreat to a safe haven on the British coast.

Directed by Pug Bujeaud, starring Paige Doyle as Marie Curie and Heather R. Christopher as Hertha Ayrton
