Tacoma is home to heritage communities with roots all over the world. Celebrate the rich diversity of Tacoma’s immigrant communities at the Tacoma Moon Festival Saturday, September 9th from 1-7pm. The free family-friendly festival at Chinese Reconciliation Park on the waterfront near Old Town features dancers and musicians, artists and craftspeople, and hands-on activities for kids. There will be food vendors and a wine and beer garden , and you can learn about and sample varieties of tea at the Ting teahouse. Docents will lead tours of the park, explaining the tragic expulsion of the Chinese community in 1885 and the City’s commitment to create a public space to commemorate the history; a place of contemplation and renewal.
The Tacoma Moon Festival is produced by the Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation, in partnership with The City of Tacoma and Metro Parks.
