The Alzheimer’s Association Washington State Chapter invites you to participate in the South Sound Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021 at Heritage Park. Proceeds from the walk fund Alzheimer’s and dementia research, as well as local support services for people living with the disease and their caregivers.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the Promise Garden Ceremony starts at 10 a.m. The event is family and pet-friendly and the walk route is fully accessible. It is free to attend; however, participants who donate or raise $100 or more will receive a 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s t-shirt in the mail after the Walk.
While plans are moving ahead to host the event in-person, a “Walk From Home” option is also available. The Alzheimer’s Association is monitoring federal, state and local public health guidelines to ensure the event adheres to recommendations and is safe for attendees. Participants can expect new safety measures at this year’s event including contactless registration, hand sanitizing stations and physical distancing. Per CDC guidelines, they are also asking that all attendees be vaccinated against COVID-19 or wear a mask when in crowded areas.
