Witness the annual phenomenon of the fall chum salmon run at Capitol Land Trust’s Bayshore Preserve in Shelton! Volunteer salmon docents will be stationed along Johns Creek to help answer your salmon questions. Docents will be at the preserve from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm November 13 and 14). Look for their bright orange vests.Spanish-speaking docents will be at the preserve between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 14th. The Johns Creek Trail, the Johns Creek Estuary Trail, and the end of the Lookout Trail are great places to watch the salmon make their way upstream. The bridge that crosses Johns Creek along the Lookout Trail is also a great spot!Puget Sound Estuarium will have underwater camera technology set up along the creek so visitors can experience the salmon in a whole new way! Underwater action will be streamed to handheld tablets on the shore. Using wi-fi, visitors will be able to sync their phones to the camera to take real-time photos and videos in Johns Creek.
