Fight cancer in pets and people! Harlan’s Homes for Hope (Cancer Fighters), a Relay for Life Team dedicated to raising funds to find a cure for cancer, has joined forces with Lisa Parshley, a veterinary oncologist at Olympia Veterinary Cancer Center, to host the PAWS 4 a CAUSE walk.
PAWS 4 A CAUSE is raising funds to fight cancer in animals and people.
• What: 1.5-mile, pet-friendly walk to beat cancer
• When: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022
• Where: Heritage Park/Capitol Lake, 701 Water St SW, Olympia, WA 98501
The team will split all proceeds equally between the Animal Cancer Foundation and the American Cancer Society – both organizations dedicated to finding a cure for cancer. The Animal Cancer Foundation funds comparative oncology research and unites pet and human research for a cure. The American Cancer Society funds critical cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient and family services.
“Each year, roughly 600,000 Americans die of cancer,” said Harlan’s Homes for Hope team leader Angie Dorian. “An estimated 6 million dogs and 6 million cats will be diagnosed with cancer this year. We’re walking for a day when no family will ever have to lose their loved one, friend or pet to cancer.”
