Learn gardening and composting techniques from the experts! Take advantage of the summer light and join the WSU Extension Master Gardeners for an evening stroll through their Dirt Works Demonstration and Learning Garden inside Yauger Park in West Olympia. Explore two acres of inspiring fruit, vegetable, ornamental gardens that use scientifically proven gardening practices. Each free session, a a specific gardening practice will be demonstrated.

Thursday, September 1— Fall Gardening & Clean-up

Garden opens at 5:30pm, presentations 6:30pm (1+ hours).  Take-home information will be available.

Free, open to all, and no pre-registration needed – just show up.

Directions to Dirt Works Demonstration Garden: (open for events only and by appointment)

  • From I-5 take HWY 101 towards Shelton. Get off at Black Lake Blvd. exit and at the bottom of the ramp turn right. Get in your left lane and make a left onto Cooper Point Road. Follow this until you reach Capital Mall Drive. Make a left onto Capital Mall Drive and follow it until you see Alta Street. Turn right onto Alta Street. Follow this road into the park and drive through the parking lot until it ends. The garden entrance is located at the end of the parking lot.
