Gather at Heritage Park in Olympia for a free cultural festival of the Squaxin Island Tribe Saturday, August 17th, 2024 10am-8pm. Celebrate salmon recovery (and more!) through the restoration of st̓əč̓as (steh/chass) (the Deschutes Estuary), coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Boldt Decision. There will be storytelling workshops, educational booths, vendors, food, and intertribal cultural exchange, and environmental education. Musical guests include tribal rock artist Saltwater Hank and Suquamish hip-hop fusion artist Calina Lawrence, with poetry by the 6th Washington State Poet Laureate Rena Priest of the Lhaq’temish (Lummi) Nation, and storytelling by Squaxin Island Museum Director Charlene Krise.
